I remember having a conversation with a friend, "Jesse", who was so scared for her family because they had not repented and continually rejected Christ's salvation. This friend of mine was so caught up in worrying about them in hell. She was so sad about seeing her family in hell that she seemed to lose sight of the greater picture, which is heaven and her own salvation. It surely would not help her if she and her family were all in hell. How would her worry serve her then? What troubled me was that she was so worried and afraid for her family when we both knew that many if not most would go to hell, and this includes people we both knew. Does that mean we should spend our days worried and miserable thinking about those who will be sent to hell? Of course not!
Luke 14:25-33 Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. Colossians 3:1-2 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. It may sound harsh, but worrying is a distraction. The only thing we can do as Christians is push forward, not look back or around us, because this is what the enemy wants - for us to be distracted. Does this mean that we shouldn't care or that we don't care? No way! We should show our love by evangelizing Biblically, placing our faith in the Holy Spirit to do His good works, having trust in God, knowing He is a Holy god and a just & perfect Judge unlike us. All we can do is look forward to the things in Heaven, not to those in this world. We should also fast and we should pray without ceasing, with faith in our hearts that our loved ones will step out of spiritual darkness and receive salvation in Christ. Peace & Grace!
